Got Time? by Penny Bradley, RN

We know time is something none of us seem to have enough of. Health care professionals are really good at time management though. That’s why we are calling upon you to help. The North Clackamas School District Nurses need you!

Our vision is to get the students in our schools, who do not have dental insurance, seen by local dentists at no charge. As you well know, many children come to school daily in pain as a result of caries. With the economy the way it is, there are many families that cannot afford dental care for their children.

Next fall during the weeks of September 27 and October 4, we will need hygienists to volunteer their time to assist us with dental screening for all students in grades 1, 3, and 5. We will need dentists to volunteer time to treat those in need. Our goal is to get local dentists to donate one dental visit per month.

The school nurses would fill those time slots with students in need. All of the paper work would be completed ahead of time. “Stand for Children” volunteers would help us with transportation to their appointments.

If you feel you could help us, please call The North Clackamas School District Health Services Coordinator, Cathy Knight @ 503.353.6135.  You may also contact the school nurse in your local school.

Thank you for your willingness to help our kids learn better!
